I found this on a whim. A cheap acquisition from Humble Bundle. Me being a massive Whovian did not mind paying $15 for this and several pieces. So enough of that here is my review of the first part of this tale.
The Invasion of the Daleks paints a beautiful picture of one of Dr. Who's most infamous enemies, the Daleks. All without visuals whatsoever. While not the doctor or any incarnation of him, the main characters are very enthralling. Especially the lead heroine, Susan Mendes.
Though I am pretty sure the Doctor saves a lot of lives his eternal fight against the daleks. It is nice to see the Time Lord Ex Machina swoop in and wave his sonic screwdriver again and save the day. Allow it feel in some blanks about the Daleks. Surely, they couldn't always been at war with the Time Lords. Maybe this is preparations for the time war.
Now back to the characters. Susan Mendes is an interesting character and I can't wait to see what will happen with her next. The Daleks have already pic my interest with the dialog between the Dalek Emperor and Dalek Supreme Commander. For two one opt characters (I am unsure they are the same character from the BBC Dr. Who. But I am going to assume yes.) that didn't get much screen time, I like seeing them fleshed out more. As interesting as the main plot is the side plot, in my opinion, seemed to be lackluster. Alby doesn't have the same charm as Susan and the main plot. As a framing device, Alby is a good tin dog.
All in all the experience of an audio adventure reminds of the older serials for Dr. Who. I enjoyed the voices of the actors. I can't wait to download and review the other chapters.
