Script a dialogue between the Devil and his publicist.
The phone buzzed. Johnathan was dreading this call all day long. His firm was the largest in the United States. They handled public relations for some of the highest echelon of the business world to the most popular celebrities. From Presidents of Fortune 500 companies to blockbuster action stars. Johnathan even had it on good authority that the company was trying to crack the British market. Some clients were big. And required whole teams of agents. Everything from media coaches to spin doctors. And for those difficult clients, special people that keep an eye on them. You know just to ensure that they aren't seen in any unflattering or compromising position. The phone buzzed louder and angrier this time. Jonathan himself usually worked with stars on one such team. But his bosses felt it was time for Johnathan to fly solo. Always liking a challenge, Johnathan in his arrogance asked for a difficult client. The phone literally began screaming in terror.
Johnathan jumped back a bit. The phone continued to scream until he picked up it.
"Hello?" he said timidly. On the other line was nothing. No breathing. No talking. Not even silence. Or at least how we understood it.
"I am not there you know," a gentle and calm voice said. Johnathan dropped the phone and his spine went rigid. In the chair across from his was a fair skinned gentleman. He was dressed in a rather dapper blue suit and tie combination. His blond hair was gelled back. He looked completely normal expect for the large black wings on his back. And the shadow that seemed to move on it own accord. He flashed his pearly whites at Jonathan in a disarming smile. Jonathan pulse quickened.
"You must be...." Jonathan muttered out before taking a seat.
"Your two o'clock appointment. Though I must say it is a quarter past the hour," the calm man said checking a golden pocket watch, "Let us get one thing straight. I abhor tardiness."
"Sorry, I was...I mean. What do I call you?"
"Lucifer or Lucius will do."
"While Mr. Lucius. I was reviewing your case. Normally before I meet with a client I like to go over his past media history. But...."
"I have an extensive history that anyone can get a hold of," he said watching Johnathan squirm in his chair. Lucifer snapped his fingers and a martini appeared before Johnathan. "You seem tense. Drink this. It is your favorite."
Johnathan made for the drink but pulled back at the last second. "I shouldn't be drinking on the job."
"How goes the AA meetings?"
"We are here to discuss you, Mr. Lucius."
"I was hoping to build a rapport. I don't mean to pry."
"Continuing on. I would offer you a specialized team. Full of agents dedicated to altering your image. However, that would do nothing to change your already established reputation. What suggest that we look toward building decent relationship with the public." Lucifier's shadow picked up the photo of Johnathan's family.
"Such a lovely family. I had a family like that.once," he said staring at the picture.
"Sir, I would really wish we would stay focus."
